Creative Writing with BRC

 

THE MISSION: To give diverse high-school students hands-on exposure and experience in creating content in a virtual setting with professional artists.

WHAT IS THE BRIC CREATIVE ACADEMY? A project challenge for teams to ideate, develop, and produce new content.  Types of content and topics will vary.

WHAT WAS THE CHALLENGE? Students were broken into teams to pitch a story around the prompt “A Little Help From My Friends”

WHAT SCHOOLS PARTICIPATED? USC Media Arts & Engineering Magnet, Compton Early College HS, South East HS, Wheatland Union HS, Manual Arts HS, San Fernando HS, Franklin HS, & more.

HOW DID IT WORK? BRC Imagination Arts broke the students into small groups and ran a writer’s room workshop with them. Together the students came up with stories and pitched their ideas with visuals to the group. Students from Franklin HS, San Fernando HS, Wheatland Union HS,
USC Hybrid High College Prep, South East HS, USC Media Arts & Engineering Magnet, Compton Early College HS & more attended.
