If you are interested in becoming a working screenwriter, most likely, at some point or another you’ve heard about “The Fellowships.” Usually this means the TV writing fellowships offered by CBS/Viacom, Disney, NBC, or Warner Brothers. Occasionally other programs, such as Sundance Episodic Lab or Universal Writers Program, will get lumped into the discussion. These programs are well-known within the writing community and are considered excellent opportunities for the writers who are chosen. The networking, mentorship, and training offered have helped many of today’s upper-level writers get their start.

One of the most consistent ways to get your name out there is to win one of the four big writing fellowship (NBC, CBS, Disney, the WB). Thousands of people enter every year for less than a dozen spots in each program.

But other fellowships are now appearing, usually focusing on helping in a specific, underrepresented group. The Disruptors fellowship is just one of those programs. Jacquelyn Revere is one of the ten inaugural fellows.
