Clarence Major
Production Designer + Diversity Chair for the Art Directors Guild of America
Clarence Major is an accomplished Production Designer and advocate that works globally. He graduated with honors from the prestigious Pasadena Art Center College of Design in Environmental Design and studied human development at Pacific Oaks College. Major has designed features, hundreds of commercials and music videos, as well as live shows.
Major’s work in live shows features films and television that have included projects like the sci-fi thriller project for Universal films with Ice Cube and Eva Longoria, Netflix special for Ronny Chieng, and Art Direction on Fox’s 911 Lonestar. In addition to this Major has designed campaigns for Dodge, Reebok, Lexus, Sony, Honda, McDonald's, NBA, BF Goodrich, Hitachi, BBC, Nissan, Samsung, Jaguar, and Plymouth; just to name a few. Major's other work has included celebrity talents such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Meg Ryan, Jodie Foster, Charlie Sheen, Whoopi Goldberg, and Brad Pitt. He has worked with many directors from the US, Europe, and Asia. More recently major has been involved in the Art Direction of several VR projects with Intel and Mixed Reality productions.
Major holds the post of Diversity Chair for the Art Directors Guild of America. He has also held the position of Vice President of Foothill Autism Alliance in Los Angeles. He and his wife are also the founders of Abilities not Disabilities. This is a nonprofit that is in its’s infancy stages. The vision of Abilities not Disabilities is to major on what the disabled can achieve and not on what they are unable to achieve.
Major has a large body of design work that shows a very rich diversity. His understanding of layered color, dimensional composition, and varied textures is very keen. Major’s work in the area of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion touches not only areas in our working environments and society at large that we so gravely need to attend to but also extends to vulnerable parts of our society that deserving and need our attention as well. Ultimately with his experience and knowledge in multiple disciplines and areas Majors posture of what he is always desiring to do is to cultivate, describe and elevate stories. Stories about life, stories about experiences, and most importantly stories about people.
