Meli Holdipp

Visual and Media Artist | Teaching Artist

Meli Holdipp is a non-binary, Afro-Caribbean Visual and Media Artist from Brooklyn, New York. They have been making art from as early as three years old, but began their academic journey in the arts when they attended Art and Design High School for Cartooning in 2011. During their time in high school, Holdipp began to develop interests in other visual arts fields, such as photography and illustration.

Their specific passion in media arts led them to being accepted to Brooklyn College for their undergraduate career in 2015. In Fall of 2019, Holdipp earned two Bachelor’s of Arts degrees in Communications and Film. During their undergraduate studies, Holdipp had a variety of jobs, internships and volunteer opportunities in the arts - such as being a social media coordinator and photographer/ videographer for many Brooklyn College programs.

Post-college, Holdipp has been working in the non profit arts and education industries. They’ve interned twice for The Animation Project as a Social Media Coordinator and Media and Design Coordinator while also working as 2nd grade Group Leader for St. Nick’s Alliance. In less than a year, Holdipp became a Teaching Artist for St. Nick’s Alliance, working with grades kindergarten to eighth. Last summer, Holdipp’s discipline was cartooning, but they are currently teaching grades 3-5 digital and traditional illustration at five different elementary schools this 2022-2023 school year.
