Irene Soriano

Irene Soriano is a writer, independent arts producer, and film & literary curator living in Los Angeles. She was Film Independent's first Project Involve Fellow under the Film Programming Track and has since curated film programs for the Echo Park Film Center, Filipino American National Historical Society (FANHS), and the Festival of Philippine Arts & Culture. In addition, Irene has served on various film festival screening committees, including Project Involve, Los Angeles Film Festival, Outfest, and the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival.

In December 2021, she was selected to be part of the inaugural class of Outfest Fusion's Programming Fellowship. This new two-year initiative has Fellows screen and curate titles for the Outfest Fusion QTBIPOC (Queer, Trans, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) Film Festival. Irene has also served on the International Narrative Shorts award jury for the 2022 Outfest Los Angeles and moderated an industry podcast about diversity, equity, and inclusion in the film programming space for the International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Film with the Programmers of Colour Collective in 2022. In addition, she was invited to guest curate an art and film exhibition for Outfest's LGBTQ+ arts and virtual media OUTMUSEUM titled "The Filipinx Edition: Queer and Trans Visions from Women and Non-Binary Artists," launched online for Filipino American History Month. Irene recently joined the Sundance Film Festival as a short film programmer for its 2023 edition.
