Visual Effects Supervisor Kaitlyn Yang founded Alpha Studios in 2013 to provide studios with high-quality visual effects services, with a team that is on a mission to push the limits of technology and maximize visual creativity.
With more than a decade of visual effects industry experience, Kaitlyn’s work includes “Robot Chicken,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” and most recently, “American Born Chinese.” An asset to sophisticated clients who have high-pressure timelines and budgets, she brings a deep understanding of all phases of the content development pipeline, including storyboarding, pre-visualization, props and costumes, hair and make-up, color correcting, and editing. She regularly develops script and budget breakdowns for clients, works with an array of visual effects practitioners, and has a particular expertise in identifying several viable scenarios when troubleshooting, including the shortest path to a solution that delivers the highest visual impact.
Most recently, Kaitlyn, longside other disabled filmmakers, founded 1IN4, an intersectional coalition of disabled creatives currently working in Hollywood, focusing on long-term institutional shifts to increase access, employment and authentic representation of disabled people in entertainment. Given 1 in 4 adults in America are disabled, increasing access and representation of disabled people is not only good for culture, it’s also great for business.
Kaitlyn is often invited to speak regarding visual effects trends, women in business, entrepreneurism, and leadership. Her insights have been published in Bloomberg, Variety, Los Angeles Times, and more.
Kaitlyn holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Animation and Digital Arts from the University of Southern California, School of Cinematic Arts. She also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Quantic School of Business and Technology. She is currently pursuing the Organizational Behavior Graduate Certificate Program from Harvard University. Kaitlyn is a Forbes 30 Under 30 recipient for
Hollywood/Entertainment, a member and former co-chair of the Visual Effects Society, and a member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
