Matthew Waynee

Grant Writer & Educational Consultant for BRIC Foundation & Teacher at LAUSD/USC Media Arts & Engineering Magnet

A produced screenwriter and teacher with over 20 years experience, Matthew Waynee currently works at a Title 1 Magnet School in Los Angeles, where he helped build its CTE Video Production and Animation pathways from the ground up. He has written nearly $3,000,000 in grants and set up partnerships with DreamWorks, Nickelodeon, Illumination Pictures, NBC/Universal, and Warner Bros. for his students to gain hands-on, industry experience. He has worked with the BRIC Foundation and authored its Animation, Game Design, and VFX Apprenticeship Program, which launched in 2023. This apprenticeship program is the first of its kind to be approved by California's Division of Apprenticeship Standards and the federal Department of Labor.  Waynee has been a guest speaker at numerous universities and conferences around the country.  In 2016, he was honored to be named the National Magnet Teacher of the Year.
