Summer 2025Bootcamps
Overview:
This Summer, BRIC is offering Animation, Visual Effects, and Gaming Bootcamps for high school students and rising artists. At little to no cost, these courses are designed to give students from all backgrounds and experience levels the hands-on exposure and experience that can lead to a career in entertainment.
Enrolled students will:
Learn fundamental skills
Gain experience with industry software
And work on portfolio-building projects that will prepare them for pursuing a career in animation, visual effects, or gaming.
After completing a bootcamp, students will also receive one free submission to earn a BRIC Digital Badge, which can be added to their resumes and professional profiles.
Spots are available on a first come, first served basis, with classes beginning in June 2025.

Join this 3-week intensive virtual program where you’ll collaborate with fellow students to create and pitch an original animated TV series concept. With guidance from industry experts, students will:
Simulate a studio environment by working in teams
Learn the fundamentals of entrepreneurship
Craft a unique story and develop a professional pitch packet to be presented to development executives
Receive instruction and mentorship from creative professionals in storytelling, character design, visual development, and more.

Career Exposure: Masterclass Program
This course allows students to build awareness of industry career opportunities; identify interests, skills, and career possibilities through guided self-assessments and research; and explore opportunities for job shadows and workplace simulations.

This career-focused course introduces students to Epic Games Unreal Engine technology for use with gaming, virtual production, animation, visual effects, and other career pathways. Topics covered will include but not be limited to getting started with Unreal Engine, the Epic Launcher, the Library, the user interface, the Marketplace, Quixel Bridge, Metahuman, Blueprints, creating environments, Animation, Cameras, the Sequencer, Exporting, and synchronizing the virtual camera with a real camera.
Through lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on exercises, students will learn the Unreal Engine workflow from pre-visualization, through production to postproduction. Students will become familiar with hardware such as Gaming PCs and / or Macs, cutting edge GPUs, Unreal Engine software, and applicable terminology, such as Nanite, Lumen, and the Virtual Production Glossary. Intro to Unreal Engine | June 16 - July 27, 2025

Students will learn to use Adobe After Effects to create motion graphics with text and animation, with an emphasis on techniques practiced in the visual effects and animation industries. Tools such as keyframes, motion paths and masks will be used to create visual effects and motion graphics projects and students will explore common workflows and job pathways in these industries.

In this course, students will explore alternative forms of traditional animation: Analysis and application of the techniques of claymation; stop-motion, paper cut-outs, puppets, color sand, mixed media, and set construction and sculpture; and digital video manipulation.

In this course, students will learn introduction to game theory and interactive computer game design: Analysis and application of the concepts of pattern recognition, spatial reasoning, branching storytelling, interactive parameters, interface design through the uses of flowcharts, storyboards, story scripts and programming languages.

This course develops the foundational skills for digital drawing for concept design. Students will learn the principles of concept design, perspective drawing and visual communication of concepts. Students will learn and practice hand based constructive drawing techniques with digital input tools and raster image software to develop visual concepts through drawings of hard surface objects, environments, and characters for use as concepts for 2D and 3D animation, video games, and other entertainment media.

This course is an introduction to Digital Illustration, Vector Graphics and Typography for Storytelling, and presentation of concepts. Students will learn 2D design fundamentals, vector illustration techniques, color theory, page layout, and the use of typographic elements to tell cohesive stories with visual and written elements.
