On February 21, 2020, a group of 150 thought provokers came together from different facets of the entertainment and tech industries to collectively solve how we support and nurture upand-coming talent as it pertains to women and underrepresented groups who have an interest in being creative leaders. Over the course of an 8-Hour day, there were keynote speakers, panels, and five workshops. During the workshops, participants were broken into randomly assigned groups of ten. There they spent time coming up with solutions to the following questions. Their solutions were then shared with the larger group and discussed.

On Saturday, December 7th and Sunday, December 8th, students created short films about “How Documentaries Change Your Perspective” at NFMLA’s Docuslate Film Festival. We had a group of industry expert “coaches” split up to guide and mentor the teams on their projects and assist them with creating their projects.

On October 23rd & 24th, BRIC Foundation’s Nicole West, Melanie Augustyn Hoffman, Nicole Hendrix, and Jill Gilbert participated in the LA Promise Fund’s Hello Future Career Fair. Over two days, LA Promise Fund immersed 12,000 young people ranging from middle and high school girls to local college students of color in STEM, making Hello Future the largest STEM conference for young people of color in the nation.
