Dan Chuba

American Film Financier and Producer

Dan Chuba is an American film financier and producer. He studied Painting at the University of Michigan before earning his master’s degree in Computer Animation from Cal Arts. After Cal Arts, Chuba served as Head of Production at Apogee Productions and then Executive Producer for Pacific Data Images' feature film division prior to founding his own company, Hammerhead Productions. Hammerhead produced animation and visual effects on over 100 major motion pictures ranging from big budget blockbusters like X-Men, Prometheus, Titanic, and The Fast and Furious franchise to small specialty films like Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo & Juliet and the Paranormal Activity franchise.

In 2019 Chuba joined with Vanessa Choy to create a distribution and film production financing fund in partnership with One Cool Group. The fund is focused on premium family content made for global theatrical release by major studios. The fund has project financing partnerships with Paramount, Warner Bros., Sony and Universal.

Recently completed projects include The Garfield Movie, in partnership with Alcon Entertainment, staring Chris Pratt, Hannah Waddingham, Samuel L Jackson, Nicholas Hoult; the Sony's Lin-Manuel Miranda animated musical, Vivo, starring Zoe Saldana, Gloria Estefan, Nicole Byer and Brian Tyree Henry and The Mitchells vs. The Machines, starring Abbi Jacobson, Danny McBride, Maya Rudolph, Olivia Colman and John Legend, also with Sony. The film was produced by Phil Lord & Chris Miller and nominated for a Best Animated Film Oscar. Films in production include Angry Birds 3, the third installment of the hit film series based on the popular mobile game from Sega/Rovio. The film stars Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, and Rachel Bloom.
