Mandie Taketa is a creative force who operates under the guiding principles of inclusivity and visibility and her artistic endeavors are dedicated to uplifting audiences and fostering a safe space through the power of storytelling.
Originally from Kaneohe, Hawaii, Taketa made the pivotal move to Los Angeles to pursue her dream of acting and dancing. Out of necessity, she began producing as a way to open doors in the entertainment industry. Discovering that her first Hollywood job would leave her as an uncredited producer, she vowed to advocate for her value in the industry. This led to Taketa championing those that may not have the same opportunities due to race, sexual identity or socioeconomic status and is also the ethos of her production company.
Taketa is the co-founder of A Wayne & Mandie Creative, a joint production company with ex-husband and best friend the Emmy Award winning, Grammy nominated actor, producer, singer, dancer, author, and television personality Wayne Brady. She is the co-creator and executive producer, along with Brady, of the upcoming docuseries, Wayne Brady: The Family Remix premiering this summer on Freeform and streaming on Hulu the next day. The show will follow
Brady and their blended family, including their 21-year-old daughter Maile, and Jason, who is Mandie’s life partner. Jason and Mandie also have a son Sundance-Isamu. Mandie is also a co-creator of an original scripted series currently in development with Jerry Bruckheimer Television.
As co-founder of the company, Taketa played a pivotal role in the production of the “Wayne Brady Makin’ It Up Australian Tour” DVD special and the Las Vegas Residency at The Venetian, titled “Wayne Brady Makin’ Shit Up” Additionally, Taketa co-created and served as the executive producer for “Comedy IQ” on BYU TV which aired in 2021.
Taketa is also a director and producer of music videos working on various projects for Interscope Record artists. Taketa co-produced and served as the artistic director for the opening number at the BET Honors in 2017. In 2020, she directed and co-produced the tribute to Little Richard at the BET Awards. And in 2022, she co-produced specialty material for Wayne Brady’s opening number and comedic segments at the American Music Awards.
